We present “Enjoy!” — an album born from dozens of conversations about music with Michał Urbaniak.

Work on it began last June, when Michał visited us in Gdynia again — as it turned out later, for the last time. Although we maintained social and creative contact uninterruptedly until his final days…

We are immensely glad that he had time to propose a selection of tracks for remixing, was involved in their creation, and above all, was able to listen to several already finished recordings.

This is not a tribute album, but a record that is an expression of the joy of creation — full of energy, danceable, reflecting jazz as Michał saw it.

“The most important thing is rhythm. Jazz is rhythmic music.

Jazz and hip hop share the same roots; there is rhythm in jazz and rhythm in hip hop.

Both genres are meant to move you emotionally first and foremost, not intellectually. The stereotype that jazz is only for the elite and hip hop is music for American gangsters is nonsense.

Originally, jazz was music intended for dancing, and for my generation, it was like pop.

And so everyone will still be dancing to it.

Don’t be afraid to live or to listen to jazz. It should all be a pleasure and a joy.”

The patron of the album “Michał Urbaniak Enjoy!” is APSYS – a company that has been creating unique urban spaces for 30 years. In this way, APSYS celebrates the opening of the revitalized Market Hall (Hala Targowa) in Gdańsk: a new center for flavors, shopping, meetings, and entertainment.
